When it comes to their daily beauty regimen, many women often overlook nail care. However, just like the face, hair and skin, nails are an important part of a girl’s overall appearance - and they deserve a little TLC.
Fortunately, implementing a nail care routine doesn’t have to be time-consuming or complicated. Here are some “lazy girl” tips to help you improve the health and appearance of your nails with minimal effort:
1. Perform regular nail maintenance
Regular maintenance will help keep your nails hydrated, strong and healthy - so make sure you don’t skip it.
Set aside some time each week to trim, file, exfoliate and moisturise your nails. A good time to do this is right before bed - it’s a great way to relax after a long, busy day.
2. Eat well
Many common nail problems are often the result of an unhealthy diet - so it’s important to ensure you eat right.
Try adding more leafy greens and protein-rich foods to your daily meals. You can also take supplements like biotin, vitamin E and fish oil, which help improve nail strength and growth.
3. Keep your nails short
Long nails are beautiful, but they tend to snag on things easily and require more work to maintain. Go for a shorter style with a rounded edge, which is neater and easier to manage.
4. Moisturise before bed
Your body heals and repairs itself while you sleep, so the best time to moisturise your nails is actually right before bedtime.
Try this: Mix grapeseed oil, olive oil, coconut oil and vitamin E in a small bowl and apply generously to your nails and cuticles. Then slide on a pair of cotton gloves and go to bed - you’ll wake up next morning with beautifully hydrated, baby soft nails.
5. Nourish your nails
Nail wraps and soaks are great ways to quickly nourish your nails. They’re also relatively affordable and easy to make at home.
Try this: Soak your nails in a bowl of freshly-squeezed orange juice for about 10 minutes, then rinse and soak them in a bowl of olive oil. Do this 2-3 times a week for healthier, shinier nails.
6. Avoid harsh nail polishes
Some traditional nail polishes may come with potentially harmful chemical ingredients which can damage your nails. Always check the label before buying, and avoid products which contain toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) or xylene.
By the way, all of our EasyPeel polishes are 7-free - which means they don’t contain any of the chemicals listed above, and are perfectly safe for regular use!
Bottom line: If you love your nails and want to keep them looking amazing, then you’ll need to take good care of them. Healthy nails are key for a shinier, longer-lasting manicure, and also make a better canvas for gorgeous nail art designs.
If you’re ready to get your manicure game on, try our EasyPeel gel polishes, which are safe to use, long-lasting and easy on your nails!
